  • New Serviceing for People Facing Foreclosure
    Sustainable Homeownership and Anti-Foreclosure Response Center Opens: 1/5/08 The Minneapolis Urban League's Housing Stability Program in collaboration with Minnesota ACORN will be hosting the grand opening of the Sustainable Homeownership and Anti-Foreclosure Response Center (SHARC) on Saturday, January 5, beginning at a 10:00 am press conference. At 11:00 am, the new Center will begin helping clients. Both the press conference and the new Center will be at the Minneapolis Urban League's Glover-Sudduth Center, 2100 Plymouth Ave N., Minneapolis.
  • Proposed Change in Bankruptcy Law
    This isn't anything new. A provision in the U.S. Bankruptcy Code dating to 1978 does not allow bankruptcy filers to modify mortgage debt for their primary residences. A number of consumer groups, and at least one member of Congress, think the law should be changed to help people avoid foreclosure.
